With over 25 years in the culinary industry, Roary McPherson has carved out a distinguished career as a chef across Canada. His journey began in 1988 at the Hotel Newfoundland, leading to roles at The Algonquin, The Lodge at Kananaskis, The Banff Springs Hotel, and The Fairmont Hotel MacDonald, among others. Roary has served as Executive Chef at prominent venues, including the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland and, most recently, the Hilton Garden Inn since May 2023.
A proud advocate for local cuisine, Roary has been deeply involved in showcasing Newfoundland's food culture. He is the creator of the "From This Rock Culinary Tour," a provincial initiative highlighting local chefs, farmers, and producers. He has also co-created and participated in culinary events such as the Mid-Winter Bivver and Eat the Hill, emphasizing local food in unique settings.
Roary's contributions extend beyond the kitchen. He has represented Newfoundland and Labrador in trade missions and culinary events, and his accolades include the title of Chopped Canada Champion 2015, several Good Food Innovation Awards, and the 2014 Restaurateur of the Year by Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador. As a passionate promoter of local food, Roary continues to inspire through his culinary excellence and commitment to community engagement.
